I delight in finding tiny surprises and quiet incidences of beauty in commonplace situations. I am enamored with the physical and meditative acts of drawing, and with drawing as a means of documenting the transitory nature of all things. Working with a variety of drawing, painting, and printmaking media, I use layers to suggest fluctuations in context and continuity, and the potential for change at any given moment. I am inspired by Avis Newman and the drawings of Lee Bontecou, and their interpretation of biological and organic matter. Whether I am working realistically or abstractly--or often a combination of both--I seek subjects that relate to life and light, and ultimately to the human body either physically or sensorily.
